How to Activate Fingerprint Lock on WhatsApp (Fingerprint Lock)

Fingerprint lock is the latest feature that allows us to lock WhatsApp using fingerprints. By activating this feature we can make other people unable to open WhatsApp on our cellphones without permission.

The presence of this feature is something that has been anticipated by some people, especially for those who are very concerned with the privacy of the conversations that are on their WhatsApp.

Because we both know that there are always people who like to be nosy and poky, saying they want to lend a cell phone to take a picture, then suddenly they read our WA chat. Now since the presence of this fingerprint lock feature, people like that will die step.

On this occasion I will show how to activate it. The way is very easy, just need to do a few steps.

How to lock WhatsApp with fingerprint

1. Update WhatsApp to the latest version

The first step is to update the WhatsApp application via Playstore. This fingerprint lock feature is only available in the latest version of WhatsApp, if you have not updated it will not appear.

So first open Playstore go to the My Apps menu> select WhatsApp> Update. Wait until the update process is complete.

2. Open WhatsApp

After WhatsApp has been updated to the latest version, open the application.

3. Press the menu button

Then enter the menu by pressing the button point three in the upper right corner.

4. Select Settings

Then select the Settings menu

5. Select Account

Then select Account.

6. Select Privacy

In this menu there are several options for adjusting the settings in our account. Setting the fingerprint lock feature in the Privacy menu, select the menu.

7. Select Fingerprint lock

In this Privacy menu we can manage many settings ranging from whether we want the information last seen can be seen by others, set who can see our profile photo and status, to block contacts.

Drag down until you find an option called Fingerprint lock then tap once. By default this feature is not active, so we must activate it first before we can use it.

8. Activate Unlock with fingerprint

The next step is to activate the fingerprint lock by pressing the button once until it turns blue.

9. Scan the fingerprint

A fingerprint scan request will appear on the screen, place your right finger finger on the fingerprint scanner on the back of the smartphone. Hold until the caption appears. After successful later we will enter the Fingerprint lock settings menu.

10. Set how long WhatsApp is locked automatically

In the Automatically lock option we can set how long WhatsApp will be locked automatically after we close the application.

There are three choices namely Immediately meaning WhatsApp will be locked automatically as soon as we close, the second choice is after 1 minute, and the third choice is after 30 minutes.

Please choose as you wish, when WhatsApp is locked automatically then we need to do a fingerprint scan to open it. If repeated finger scans every time you want to open WhatsApp are quite annoying, you can set the time to 30 minutes.

11. Turn off Show content on notification

In the Fingerprint lock settings there is also an option to display the contents of the message on the notification, namely the Show content in notifications option.

This feature will be active by default, but if you are someone who does not like it if your WA message is accidentally read by someone else because it appears on the notification, then you can turn off this feature.

Those are the steps to activate the fingerprint lock in the WhatsApp application, by activating this feature we can make sure no one else reads our WhatsApp messages. Good luck!
